The Definition of Science
The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena. Such activities restricted to a class of natural phenomena. Such activities applied to an object of inquiry or study. Methodological activity, discipline, or study: I’ve got packing a suitcase down to a science. An activity that appears to require study and method: the science of purchasing. Knowledge, especially that gained through experience.

Our Goals
The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) was founded on May 30, 1969, in Quincy, Illinois, originally as the Midwest UFO Network. Its founders included Walter H. Andrus, Allen Utke, John Schuessler, and others, many of whom had previously been involved with the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO).
Today, MUFON is the largest and oldest civilian UFO research organization in the world. It has more than 4,000 members globally, with the majority based in the continental United States. MUFON operates a worldwide network of state and regional directors who oversee field investigations of reported UFO sightings. The organization also hosts an annual international symposium and publishes the monthly MUFON UFO Journal.
MUFON’s stated mission is the scientific study of UFOs for the benefit of humanity through investigation, research, and education. The organization maintains a structured field investigator training program with over 800 certified field investigators, a nationwide rapid response team for high-priority cases, an underwater dive team, and a continually evolving computerized UFO case management system. MUFON is governed by an active board of directors and continues to play a central role in civilian UFO research worldwide.
